However, it still takes me by complete surprise when logic enters in to a good, government decision!
When I was a kid growing up on a farm, OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, proposed draft rules for how far farm workers should have to walk to access a bathroom. It’s been too many years for me to remember the details accurately, but as I recall, OSHA wanted to require that farm workers never be father than 5 minutes from a bathroom. One rancher wrote in to a farm industry magazine and explained that his ranch would require something like $1.5 million worth of Porta Potties (in 1975 dollars) just to be in compliance. Luckily, OSHA had to back down.
“Withdrawn” means they can bring it back AFTER the election!
(meanwhile, somewhere in a Department of Labor cubicle, a thoughtful bureaucrat is rewriting the same proposal for the next time around)
