    When I was a kid growing up on a farm, OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, proposed draft rules for how far farm workers should have to walk to access a bathroom. It’s been too many years for me to remember the details accurately, but as I recall, OSHA wanted to require that farm workers never be father than 5 minutes from a bathroom. One rancher wrote in to a farm industry magazine and explained that his ranch would require something like $1.5 million worth of Porta Potties (in 1975 dollars) just to be in compliance. Luckily, OSHA had to back down.
